This project began when I purchased the domain http://Mash.bike a few years ago. My goal was to create a gear ratio calculator for fixed gear bikes inspired by the pitches from all around the world. Individuals could submit their personal ratios used in their home city.
The calculator asks the user to input the number of teeth on their rear socket & chain ring along with the bikes wheel size. The javascript then calculates things like speed per cadence, number of skid patches the ratio creates on the rear wheel, and an overall ratio. The user can also choose from other similar ratios if they don’t want to fiddle with the input values.
